PEUGEOT’S 307 replacement, the 308, has been caught in its production-ready form.

The car was snapped while on location for an advertising shoot in South Africa and will make its world debut at this September’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Due on sale in the UK next year, the 308 retains the 307’s high roofline but adopts some styling cues from the smaller 207 such as the door-mounted wing mirrors and full glass roof.

Expect the usual range of petrol and diesel engines, and also a diesel/electric hybrid that is claimed to emit 90g/km of CO2. SW estate and coupe-cabriolet versions will follow in 2009.
