Saab has revealed details of its revised 9-3 which goes on sale in September.

As well as new styling, the 9-3 saloon, estate and convertible models will offer four-wheel drive for the first time as well as a range of more powerful engines.

The four-wheel drive model – a Saab first – will be available only on the top-spec Aero models and is a permanent set-up which distributes power to the wheels with the most grip.

Under the bonnet, the existing range of petrol and diesel units are joined by a 180bhp twin-turbo diesel, a 280bhp 2.8-litre V6 petrol unit and a 175bhp 2.0-litre turbo BioPower option which runs on bioethanol.

The range has also been simplified with the fleet-specific Airflow, Linear SE, Vector Sport and hot Aero models. Prices range from £18,575 to £34,495.
