Hitachi CapitalSixty van fleet industry leaders from fleet managers, manufacturers and suppliers gathered in London to find out the winners of of the 2009 Fleet Van Awards, sponsored by Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Services.

MITIE was the big fleet winner, collecting the fleet of the year award while its van fleet manager Justin Patterson was van fleet manager of the year in the business category.

Ford was named van manufacturer of the year, while Citroen’s Berlingo took the van of the year title.

Manufacturer awards winners:

  • City van: Ford Fiesta Van (Highly commended – Citroen Nemo, Fiat Fiorino)
  • Small van: Citroen Berlingo (Highly commended – Ford Transit Connect, Renault Kangoo)
  • Medium panel van: Volkswagen Transporter (Highly commended – Ford Transit 2.6-2.8, Mercedes-Benz Vito)
  • Large panel van: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (Highly commended – Ford Transit 2.8-3.5, Iveco Daily)
  • Green van (conventional fuel): Renault Kangoo (Highly commended – Citroen Nemo SensoDrive)
  • Green van (alternative fuel): Iveco CNG
  • Van of the year: Citroen Berlingo
  • Most improved manufacturer: Fiat
  • Van manufacturer of the year: Ford. 
     

Service company award winners:

  • Van fleet management initiative: BT Fleet
  • Van fleet service company: Arval
  • Van service and repair company: BT Fleet
  • Van remarketing initiative: Northgate
  • Van leasing initiative: Hitachi Capital
  • Van equipment initiative: Chambers Vehicle Conversions
  • Van fleet safety: Robert Bosch
  • Technology initiative: Trafficmaster (Highly commended – Trimble MRM).


Fleet manager award winners:

  • Van fleet manager (utilities): Gary Banister, United Utilities (Highly commended – David Lang, Babcock Rail).
  • Van fleet manager (delivery/logistics): Keith Price, Tesco.com.
  • Van fleet manager (business): Justin Patterson, MITIE.
  • Van fleet manager (green): Dale Eynon, Environment Agency (Highly commended – Chris Pascall, EDF Energy).
  • Van fleet of the year: MITIE (Highly commended – United Utilities).
  • Editor’s award: Balfour Beatty Plant and Fleet Services.
