Lease and rental suppliers hoping to win EU tenders to supply cars or services will welcome a court ruling that means they must be given information on why they lost a tender and details of the winning bid.

The European Court of Justice’s Court of First Instance has ruled that this includes being told the price of confidential winning bids.
Although the case centred on work for arms of the EU, it could also be cited as a precedent in competitive tendering cases. It focused on a losing bid by French chauffeur car and minibus company VIP Car Solutions, which failed to win a contract with the European Parliament.
