Manheim DeFleet Services has warned that the number of vehicles returned by struggling companies under the voluntary surrender rules of the Consumer Credit Act needs to be managed.

It is calling for finance companies to introduce a robust inspection regime and review the charges they levy for damage and condition defects present on the vehicle, as well as for missing documents such as the V5 and MOT.

A typical set of charges on a vehicle that has been subject to a voluntary termination and that has been inspected by Manheim DeFleet Services is now more than £300.
