BCA has seen a renaissance in recent months in the sale of 4x4 pick-ups, with both lifestyle and workhorse models performing more strongly than was seen throughout much of last year.

However, Duncan Ward, BCA’s business development manager – commercial vehicles, warned that lifestyle vehicles still need to be pristine and fully loaded to achieve the best values, while working examples should not be over-travelled and again should be in good condition.

Ward said: “The 4x4 double-cab sector was hit extremely hard last year and although prices have recovered well, these vehicles can still look very good value for money to the right buyer.

“Older models are now incredibly affordable – under £3,000 for an 02-registered L200 Warrior. ”

BCA reports three-year-old Mitsubishi L200 Animal models selling for well above CAP Clean at 70,000 miles, with similar vintage Ford Ranger Thunder crew-cabs also outperforming guide prices at 40,000 miles.
