The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders' (SMMT) revamped website is helping to put automotive companies in touch.

The website provides details of more than 8,000 companies across 3,000 products and services, offering services to support and strengthen the UK motor industry.

Designed to match buyers to suppliers based on pre-defined criteria - product, location, price, quality standards or capabilities - buyers can issue private or public requests for quotation or send requests for information to potential new or alternative suppliers, all at the touch of a button.

"SMMT has an important role to play in strengthening the UK supply chain through developing business relationships," said Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive. "ASF is a valuable business support tool for companies in the automotive industry, providing a cost free, efficient and reliable method of matching buyers with suppliers of UK-built products."

The improved website is now easier to search and send business enquiries to potential suppliers. The latest developments enable businesses to update their own profile using the new MIDedit (Motor Industry Directory) feature. This ensures the most up-to-date business information is contained on the site.
