Commercial vehicles have seen a 25% increase for May helped by a 32% increase in van registrations. Truck registrations however have decreased again with a recorded 7.5% fall from April as reported by SMMT.

“UK van registrations continue to rise, but heavy truck registrations remain very low,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive. “Demand in both sectors is around 45% below the pre-recession average; while vans are picking up slightly, heavy trucks are heading for a record low. Against this background it is vital that the emergency budget helps keep the recovery moving.”
