TRANSPORT and logistics provider Ryder has acquired a £1 million Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) location in Birmingham as part of plans to double its business in the West Midlands over the next five years.

Formerly owned by the AA, the 2.3-acre site on Fairfield Park, Halesowen, is almost three times bigger than the company's existing facility in Oldbury.

Bruce Howard, Ryder's director for FMS Midlands, said: 'We currently operate over 300 lease and 100 rental vehicles and have become stifled due to lack of space. Fairfield Park has the facilities and the capability to bolster our expansion plans.'
