Skoda Elroq compact electric SUV priced from £31,500

Skoda is expanding its electric car line-up with the new Elroq compact SUV.

Sitting beneath the existing Enyaq, the Elroq will arrive in the UK in early 2025.

It's offered with three powertrain options - 50, 60 and 85 - enabling a range of up to 360 miles.

With a similar footprint to the Skoda Kamiq, the Elroq will compete with the Ford Explorer, Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro.

The Elroq showcases a shift in Skoda's design language with a fresh face incorporating a sleeker grille.

On the inside, the interior is designed to maximise space and utilises a familiar layout to the Enyaq. There's a central 13-inch touchscreen along with a small instrument cluster display.

The entry-level Enyaq SE comes with a 52kWh battery and has a range of 230 miles. Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, fabric and artificial leather upholstery, reversing camera, parking sensors and blind spot monitoring. The 50 powertrain uses a 170PS motor.

SE L models are fitted with a 59kWh battery and have a 250-mile range.  They additionally feature heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, sat-nav and dual-zone climate control. The 60 powertrain has 204PS.

The Elroq Edition can be specified with the 59kWh battery or a larger 77kWh unit. The latter (85) enables a range of 360 miles and is paired with a 285PS electric motor. Edition models feature rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control with Travel Assist Plus, keyless entry and a wireless phone charger.

Range-topping Sportline trim is also available with the 60 or 85 powertrain. These models have 20-inch wheels, matrix LED headlights, Sportline specific body styling, sports seats and a powered tailgate.

With charging rates of up to 175kW, the Elroq 85's battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes at DC fast-charging stations. For the Elroq 50, which supports charging rates of up to 145kW, the same process takes 25 minutes. All Elroq models support charging rates of up to 11kW at AC charging stations.

Orders for the new Skoda Elroq will be accepted from October 18, 2024.
