• FLEET News has a new reporter. Adele Burton has joined the team of journalists based in Peterborough from the Cover, a trade magazine for the health insurance market. Before that, she was a journalist with Mortgage Solutions. She reports to editor John Maslen.

  • GERRY Keaney has been promoted to senior vice-president of marketing, sales and customer service, with Volvo Car Corporation. Twelve months ago he was promoted from managing director of Volvo Car UK to vice-president of global sales for the corporation. His new role means he becomes a member of Volvo's management board. Before joining Volvo in 1990, Keaney held a number of senior management positions in venture capital, strategic consulting, retailing and engineering sectors.

  • THE fleet department at Monty's of Sheffield has a new sales specialist in Ron Brookes, who joins the Toyota dealership with many years' experience of personal service to the business customer. He works alongside fleet manager Mike Knowles.

  • MIKE Hutchins has been made a director with United Fleet Distribution after just 21 months with the Birmingham-based vehicle delivery company. Hutchins has more than 20 years' experience in running transport and distribution operations and has held senior positions with Walon, Sheer-truck International and Axial.

  • UNIPART Group has appointed Christopher Etherington as managing director of its automotive aftermarket parts division. He is also appointed to the main board of the Unipart Group. Etherington joins the company from the pharmaceutical company Alliance Unichem, where he was UK managing director and executive director for northern Europe. Etherington's earlier career includes Smiths Food Group, the supermarked Asda and Glass Glover Distribution.

  • POWER-TEC has appointed Steve Bradbury as operations director. He joined the company in the late 1980s as sales demonstrator and was operations manager with the company for the last three years.

  • SWAN, a leading UK contract hire company for grounds maintenance equip-ment, has appointed Tim Jones commercial director, with responsibility for the company's fleet of 6,000 vehicles. He was previously with Bethell Fleet Services and brings extensive experience of best-value solutions to councils and local authorities.
