A Volkswagen ID 7 has been driven for almost 500 miles on a single charge, during an on-road range test.
The vehicle used was a Pro S model, equipped with an 86kWh battery. Its official WLTP range is 440 miles.
During the test, the ID 7 covered 493 miles and had a remaining range of 2km (1.2 miles). The car's trip computer reported an average consumption of 10.3 kWh/100km, which is around 6mi/kWh.
The journey took more than 15 hours, with an average speed of 31mph achieved.
Felix Egolf, an expert in long-distance driving with electric cars, drove the car, having previously achieved two record-breaking drives in the ID 3.
The ID 7 was driven during the day on a defined 50-mile route in actual traffic, which included both main through-roads and motorway sections.
The test took place in Zurich, Swizerland.
