With the new Government now bringing the ban on ICE cars (at least) forward to 2030, how are you as a business prepared for this?
The points below were shared by fleet decision-makers at the September 2024 meeting of the Fleet200 Strategy Network.
- Businesses are now adopting policies that all company cars are EV. Whilst others are still offering PHEV as an alternative for high mileage users or impractical for EV.
- Commercial vehicles us still very challenging as there are some drivers that do not even have the ability to install home chargers – even if they do, then the family car has to be parked elsewhere in order to charge.
- Transition is being forced on companies to meet legislation charge points that were installed 5 years ago, having to be replaced due to them being worn out of faulty
- General feeling that EV will not work for commercial vehicles and HGV fleets, therefore, they have to look at alternatives or even change as late as possible and lease longer so they have more time to find other options
- Also the expense involved in preparation is not being considered by Government in order for fleets to transition.
