ZURICH Insurance has sponsored a CD-ROM called 'Advanced Driver Training - Your Licence to Drive,' developed specifically for the fleet car market - a similar CD-ROM for large goods vehicles will follow early in the new year.

The CD represents a joint collaboration between the training consultants 4Di and the Institute of Advanced Motorists. Zurich has analysed the claims records of its fleet policyholders and hosted workshops with fleet customers to ensure the programme meets the specific needs of fleet operators.

The sophisticated programme serves as both educator and quiz master, informing drivers of defensive driving skills and techniques, illustrating them through video images, and then questioning them on their own knowledge. It allows live time viewing of every day traffic scenarios, with the driver clicking a mouse to signal potential dangers and positive courses of action on the screen.

Each CD costs £110 (+VAT), with an accompanying book costing £15, although Zurich's customers will enjoy a 20% discount. The software is sold with a multiple user licence.
