THE Guardian Media Group's 170-strong fleet has switched fuel cards to cash in on the current fuel price wars. The drivers had used a Shell card but after a review by company secretary Arthur Townsend the company has moved to Fleet Cost Management's card to improve the ability to shop around. The FCM card is accepted at 12,500 fuel outlets.

FCM's managing director Martin Sumner said his company was responsible for a company car fuel spend of £500 million a year. And he said that a continuance of the price war was likely to mean a saving of more than £100 million this year for British industry. The potential savings from the price war are believed to be at least 2p a litre.
