MERCEDES-Benz has unveiled fiercely competitive prices for its new V-class people carrier range. With a lead-in price of £21,750, the V-class is likely to harm sales of the Honda Shuttle, Vauxhall Sintra and more expensive versions of the Ford Galaxy, Volkswagen Sharan and Renault Espace.

Due on sale in November, the car will come in three trim levels: Trend; Fashion and Ambiente. Standard features on each car include the 2.3-litre petrol engine, a potential carrying capacity of 161cu ft, ABS, dual airbags, power steering and electronic traction support. The six seater vehicles can be modified to seat seven as an option.

The V230 Fashion has clothes hooks, a compendium of games, an umbrella and colour co-ordinated trim as standard for £21,950. The top-of-the-range Ambiente has a leather interior and a refrigerator inclusive in the £24,650 price.
