LAND Rover is recalling almost 23,000 Discoveries after pinpointing a fault which could potentially allow the driver's door to fly open suddenly. Vehicles affected are those built between April 1995 and July 1996, some of which were found to have a fault which caused the door to 'bounce' on the door seal, resulting in incorrect or non-latching.

A Land Rover spokesman said only a very small number of vehicles had been found with the problem and all the faults on UK vehicles had been picked up by pre-delivery inspections. He said there had been no injuries resulting from the fault and the recall was purely a preventative exercise.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter, asking them to make arrangements to have their vehicles inspected by their nearest Land Rover dealer.
