FLEET chiefs have dismissed suggestions that companies using the roads for business should be taxed to fund public transport improvements.

Their comments came after an Autoglass survey revealed that 38% of people questioned would like to see companies which run fleets taxed. A further 28% said the extra cash should come from higher tax on company cars themselves and one-in-ten company car drivers said they would voluntarily pay more. However, fleet managers say extra tax on companies would result in consumers paying higher prices for products.
