HARPUR UK has launched a new service which allows its Overdrive and Dialcard customers to use their fuel cards to make telephone calls. Harpur claims the facility, called Drive Line, provides savings of up to 30% on UK and international calls compared with BT chargecard published rates, and up to 50% compared to mobile phone providers' published rates.

Drivers are supplied with a pin number, and dial this before making a call on any land or mobile line, in much the same way as the BT Chargecard works. Calls are consolidated on to the same fuelcard invoice customers receive anyway, reducing administrative hassle.

Carl Clump, Harpur Group's managing director, said: 'Harpur UK recognises that communication represents a significant part of mobile employee costs after fuel expenditure. The introduction of this new service will provide a convenient method for making telephone calls from anywhere within the UK while achieving substantial cost savings. It is another unique service from Harpur.'
