A MONOPOLIES and Mergers Commission report into the £450 million acquisition of RAC Motoring Services by American-owned Cendant Corporation will be handed to the Department of Trade and Industry on December 23.

The acquisition was referred to the MMC after concerns were raised that the move raised 'competition concerns in respect of the market for breakdown insurance' because Cendant owns Green Flag. It would give the firm 41% market share and potential mergers creating a 25%-plus market share must be referred to the MMC for investigation.
