EUROCOURIERS has found cost savings and enhanced service following the introduction of a new telecommunications, tracking and security system on its 600-strong delivery fleet. The Ashford-based company, which focuses on European-wide delivery services for the automotive and IT sectors, has installed Global Telematics' Orchid system as part of a review of its fleet management.

Paul Keppler, managing director and founder of Eurocouriers, said: 'Any delay in delivery can cost our customers literally hundreds of thousands of pounds in lost production time. It might mean, for example, collecting a consignment of automotive components from a plant in northern Spain and delivering them to the UK within five hours to enable a motor manufacturer to maintain production output.

'By guaranteeing a delivery within an exact timescale we can support their own manufacturing management process. Now, with the Orchid system, we can provide an even more accurate prediction of collection and delivery times and tell a customer exactly where a consignment is at any one time.'
