VOLKSWAGEN is claiming residual values 'among the best in the industry' across its range of cars following latest analysis from CAP Monitor. The latest edition of the residual value guide sees Polo, Golf, Passat and Sharan dominating their respective segments over three years/36,000 miles and 94M 2.0 Golf GTi three-door commanding a 9% advantage over its nearest rival with 60,000 miles on the clock.

Volkswagen head of fleet Vince Kinner said: 'It is now acknowledged throughout the industry that Volkswagen is class leader in wholelife costs. CAP Monitor has assessed the residual values of new vehicles - and Volkswagen scores again. CAP Monitor confirms that across the range Volkswagen's performance is among the best in the industry.'

Polo dominates the 1.4/1.5-litre supermini sector with the first 10 places with residuals of 43-47%; the Golf claims the first four places in the 1.6/1.9-litre lower medium sector and only three entries from the Honda Civic Coupe stop the marque making it a second top 10 clean sweep with residual values ranging from 45-52%.

In the lower medium diesel sector Golf claims the top three places and seventh spot with residuals of 44-49%. Passat saloons and estates dominate the 1.6/1.9-litre upper medium sector with eight entries - including the top seven places - and residuals ranging from 39-40%.
