FORD has announced a major realignment of its Fiesta range encompassing specification enhancements and a more distinctive model line-up with greater emphasis on the manufacturer's newer Zetec-engined models. The new 19-model range - previously there was almost double that number - sees the ageing Endura-engined models retained in entry-level Encore and new Fusion versions but, with the exception of the 1.8D, all the other cars are powered by either 1.25i or 1.4i Zetec SE engines - already in the line-up.

The changes are accompanied by a simpler price structure which increases in £500 steps from £7,815 on-the-road for the three-door Encore 1.3i - a reduction of £800 - to £12,815 for the five-door Ghia X 1.4i. All prices now include the £25 first registration fee introduced on April 1.

Prices for the new Zetec 1.25i start at £9,315 for the three-door with specification including alloy wheels, power steering and central locking. The Zetec LX now has power steering on all models, plus central locking and power windows, while upgrades on the Ghia and Ghia X include air conditioning and heated windscreens as standard.
