VOLKSWAGEN has boosted its Polo line-up with the launch of a 10-strong estate range and additions to saloon models. The new estate is available with a choice of three trim levels - L, CL and GL - and four engines - 1.6- litre 75bhp and 100bhp petrol units and 1.9-litre SDI 64bhp and TDI 90bhp diesels, the latter being new to the Polo.

The new estate occupies the same road space as the saloon but offers up to 44.3cu ft (1,250 litres) of luggage space providing greater utility than a small hatchback but at a lower price than a mid-size estate car. The estate costs £460 more than the equivalent saloon with prices starting at £11,205 on the road for the 1.6-litre 75bhp L. Other prices are: 1.9 64bhp L SDI £11,615, 1.9 90bhp L TDI £12,780, 1.6 75bhp CL £11,825, 1.9 64bhp CL SDI £12,235, 1.6 100bhp CL £12,345, 1.6 100bhp CL auto £13,145, 1.9 90bhp CL TDI £13,400, 1.6 100bhp GL £12,955, 1.9 90bhp GL TDI £14,010.

The Polo saloon range now starts with the 1.6-litre 75bhp L costing £10,745 on the road.
