COMPUTER Sciences Corporation has outsourced its 1,200-strong UK car fleet to Lex Vehicle Leasing in a £26 million contract hire deal. This will see Lex manage the entire process of buying, funding, managing and selling cars on behalf of CSC in this country, and become one of CSC's three preferred suppliers of vehicles in Europe through the Lex Frontier Lease service.

Prior to the outsourcing arrangement CSC had a dual supply agreement with Lex Vehicle Leasing and ACL, and all drivers with cars supplied by ACL will now use Lex's accident management, One-Call and daily rental services. Lex and CSC worked closely together to design and implement CSC's new car fleet policy, and have negotiated special arrangements with five manufacturers (which they declined to name) as part of the new scheme.

Deborah Major, CSC's head of fleet and travel, said: 'After extensive research and evaluation we felt Lex could best meet CSC's overall requirements, including the outsourcing of the total fleet administration function. Lex has demonstrated consistent and exceptional service levels, and was proactive in lending its account management expertise to develop a unique car fleet programme for us.'
