RENAULT has added its new 1.9-litre common rail direct injection turbodiesel engine to the Laguna range at prices starting from £16,875 on-the-road for the Sport 1.9 dCi hatchback and £17,875 for the estate. The new engine, offering 110bhp and 184lb-ft of torque, replaces the existing 100bhp 1.9-litre dTi turbodiesel engine and is now on sale in the Sport hatchback and estate models only.

In January it will replace the 2.2-litre turbodiesel engines in the Laguna RXE and Monaco models and will eventually find its way into other models in the range. The new engine offers a top speed of 118mph and 0-62mph acceleration in 11.8 seconds. While performance is better than the old engine, combined economy and CO2 emissions have not improved.
