FOUR police forces - Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Cumbria and Gloucestershire - are piloting the Vehicle Keepership Scheme to clamp down on people who fail to notify vehicle disposal or acquisition. The scheme, endorsed by the Association of Chief Police Officers and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, is expected to be rolled out nationally in the next year.

t combines reporting of the offences of failing to register a vehicle and vehicle excise duty evasion. Offenders can be fined up to £5,000 or face a two-year jail term.
