INSURANCE giant Royal & SunAlliance is recruiting a high-flying fleet project manager to help with the roll-out of the Whitechapel scheme across its 5,000-strong fleet. The calibre of the individual sought reflects the changing profile of fleet managers as they contend with the financial and human resource challenges of running a fleet.

A recruitment advertisement for the new post says RSA's car fleet project manager will have to be a CCAB qualified accountant with current knowledge of the UK tax environment work 'to deliver the design, implementation and management of the Royal & SunAlliance Car Ownership Scheme.' Whitechapel Corporate Services, part of First National Vehicle Holdings, developed the Car Ownership Scheme which sees fleet drivers own their company cars, using a combination of benefit-in-kind tax savings, reductions in National Insurance contributions, and the Fixed Profit Car Scheme to cut costs for employers and leave drivers financially better off.
