NATIONAL Car Rental has signed a £600,000 one-year solus deal with supermarket giant Asda to supply the retailer with 70-100 vehicles a day. The largely group C cars such as the Vauxhall Astra and Ford Escort are used by store managers for a wide range of staff purposes including training and transporting the sales force.

The cars are complemented by vans ranging from Escort vehicles to Ford Transits supplied through National's van management centre. NCR services all of Asda's vehicle rental requirements via a three-strong Leicester-based implant central team. Asda transport manager Andy Potter said: 'We have more than 200 locations nationwide so a comprehensive network was vital for our car rental needs'
