A MAJOR shake-up in the top management of the RAC has seen Richard Glover, managing director of the RAC's business-to-business division, leave the company only days after completing his four-month review into the division. He is succeeded as managing director of business-to-business by Gary Spellins, who leaves his position as managing director of Lex Managed Services. During the last two years Spellins has also headed Lex Service's corporate sales and is a former sales and marketing director of Lex Vehicle Leasing.

Spellins now takes charge of an internal review of the RAC's business-to-business division, which will decide the future roles of 'second tier' senior managers, including Penny Hadfield, director of fleet and accident services, and Chris Reynolds, managing director of driver training subsidiary BSM Fleet Training.

This could see the senior managers having to apply for new jobs, and could even mean redundancies as sections are streamlined. Spellins says his division must transform the former mutual organisation into a 'lean and mean' commercial operation, making it as profitable as possible. He will be joined next month by Ken Lee, as group marketing director, at present marketing director with Hyundai UK.
