FLEET manager David Percival has lost his job after Morris Material handling decided to outsource its 123-strong car and commercial vehicle fleet to VELO. Percival, who has been made redundant, left the Loughborough-based company at the end of October.

He said: 'I hope to find another job in the fleet industry. I consider myself to be a proactive fleet manager who has negotiated support packages directly with manufacturers and built up relationships with local dealer franchises and other fleet providers.'

Karen Winfield, human resources executive at Morris Material Handling, said: 'We decided it would be more cost-effective, and give us better provision of management information. It was a commercial decision and it means the position of fleet manager is redundant.'

A spokesman for VELO said: 'We have taken on the account but there are still a few procedures to be put in place before we are able to make a formal announcement.'
