VAUXHALL expects to triple dual-fuel vehicle sales this year - up from 800 to 2,400 units and rising to 4,000 - 5,000 units next year.

'Although it is a fledgling marketplace it is good to see fuel companies opening more outlets,' said sales operations manager Keith Michaels. 'There are now almost 600 liquefied petroleum gas refuelling pumps in the UK and I think LPG is being taken more seriously and we expect sales to increase.'

Vauxhall claims that its dual-fuel sales total more than all other manufacturers added together. Michaels said: '80% of business is incremental. Most fleets which consider a dual-fuel vehicle consider Vauxhall first.
