DATA communications expert Oasis has launched an online vehicle information database aimed at fleet managers. The new Vehicle Terms and Conditions (V-TAC) system offers a database of more than 500,000 vehicles through partnerships with firms including LeasePlan, HSBC, Interleasing, GE Capital Fleet Services, First National Vehicle Holdings, Powermarque and VELO.

The company car database provides confirmation of the ownership and terms of business that apply to vehicles requiring a service, maintenance or repair. The system will confirm to dealers searching the database who owns the vehicle and whether that vehicle is still in contract, in a bid to cut the number of calls being made to leasing companies. V-TAC will offer the answer to queries online and also will immediately publish any changes in fleet terms.

Alan Croft, executive director of Oasis, said: 'Because of the unique communications position held by Oasis, where the majority of fleet operators and service providers are already connected to our trading community, we can provide this service to take some of the cost and effort out of their work.'
