KWIK-FIT is planning to more than double in size and is aiming to have 5,000 outlets across Europe over the next five years. The company achieved its first goal of having 2,000 service points by the year 2000 at the end of last year with the acquisition of glass repair and replacement company Silver Shield Screens.

Ron Bambra, Kwik-Fit Group director of fleet, said: 'Our aim is to more than double in size over the next five years and I am confident we have the resources and the people in place to achieve our target.' In addition to the acquisition of Silver Shield Screens, Kwik-Fit bought Speedy Europe, which has 419 centres in France, Belgium and Spain, and Pitstop which has 174 centres in Germany.

The company also acquired the final 50% of Kwik-Fit Northern Ireland and complete ownership of Hometune - the UK's largest mobile servicing company. Kwik-Fit has 2,285 service points across Europe.
