PROPOSED tougher fleet safety legislation has prompted Leeds-based JCT600 Contracts to introduced a driver training service for its clients. JCT600, which now has a 4,200-vehicle fleet, has formed a strategic partnership with trainer Active Risk Management to offer the scheme.

High-mileage JCT600 drivers have trialled the £155 per person course, which includes a session on driving psychology.

Head of sales Rob Kellock said: 'Many of our clients' drivers spend the equivalent of more than 80 days a year behind the wheel. Employee liabilities are increasing daily and companies simply cannot afford to let their staff loose on Britain's highways without suitable training.'

Parent JCT600 is one of 13 firms in the north of England to have been included in the inaugural Sunday Times/PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100 league table. The table shows the UK's unlisted companies with the highest percent annual profits growth between 1995/96 and 1998/99.
