FLEETS with their own service and maintenance workshops will face increased pressure to deal with oil and fluid wastes in an ecological way from July.

A new European Landfill Directive will ban the disposal of liquid waste in landfills, which means all waste oil and liquid will have to be collected, recycled or reprocessed by a licensed waste management company.

To deal with the predicted upsurge in demand, waste management firm OSS Group has developed two services: 'Pay-As-You-Empty' and 'One-Stop-Shop'.

'Pay-As-You-Empty' is aimed at smaller workshops needing irregular disposal, while the 'One-Stop-Shop' scheme is aimed at larger garages.
