A new interactive website - www.fordserviceonline.com, allows drivers to obtain all-inclusive prices for scheduled vehicle maintenance and selected repairs, and book a guaranteed appointment with a UK-based Ford dealer of their choice.
And a dedicated fleet management interface is planned on a separate website to allow fleet operators to benefit from the service by spring 2002. Fleet operators will have a 'virtual garage' which can either be managed centrally by the fleet manager, or individual drivers will be able to have access and book in their own cars.
The programme for retail customers was trialled in the UK earlier this year following its global launch in September 2000.
It is intended to boost customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing a quick and convenient method for arranging vehicle servicing and repairs.
As the operator browses through the Ford dealerships in his or her area, the dealer's computer system sends prices and available time slots to the his PC.
Vehicles are identified by registration or VIN so information can be specific to the vehicle in question and when a dealer has been selected and the customer is satisfied with the quoted price an appointment can be booked using an interactive calendar.
