One of the mainstays of the Spanish rental market, the SEAT Ibiza, is replaced next year.

The new supermini is designed to reinforce the Spanish brand's growing reputation for sporty cars, but with a new emphasis on design and style to boost its desirability and reposition it as a more aspirational vehicle.

The new Ibiza shares a platform with the Skoda Fabia and new VW Polo. It features a choice of three petrol and three diesel engines — including the extremely lively 130bhp TDI PD married to a six-speed box. (December 2001)
