NEWLY-refurbished BCA Birmingham played host to an LCV Celebration sale that saw 150 vans go under the hammer to achieve an average of 100.1% CAP clean. The sale came as BCA customer affairs director Tom Madden launched a hard-hitting call for all van fleets to do more to make the most of the residual values of their vans.

Madden has called on fleet managers to put van residuals into the premier league by ensuring they are presented properly at disposal time. He said: 'The preoccupation with the passenger car is leading many fleet managers to neglect the unsung hero of the team - the light van. Vans should be thrust into the glare of the residual value premier league and treated better - certainly when remarketing time arrives.'

At the Birmingham sale, 80% of the entry was sold on the day, with vendors including Royal Mail, BT, Sixt Kenning and Volkswagen Financial Services. As part of the day, a presentation was made to Derek Unwin of Sixt Kenning, marking both 40 years in the industry and as a customer of BCA. He receive a hand-carved and engraved gavel from BCA regional operations director Malcolm Riley.
