SEAT unveiled a new high-performance model at the Geneva Motor Show but was doubtful whether the car would reach the UK. The Leon 4 has four-wheel drive and is powered by a 2.8-litre V6 engine, making it the fastest SEAT to date. But a spokeswoman said there were no plans to produce the car for right-hand drive markets.
However, SEAT's position as Volkswagen's sporty brand was enhanced by the introduction of a 150bhp 1.9-litre TDI engine for the Toledo. They are the latest developments of the Volkswagen units which will soon be introduced in the Golf and Bora, and will be coming to the UK. The new Toledo diesel slots in above the existing 90bhp and 110bhp 1.9 TDI engines and allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in less than nine seconds.
The cars are expected to be popular among company car drivers who want the benefits of low carbon dioxide emissions but without sacrificing performance.
