BMW has announced the prices for its new 3-series Compact that goes on sale on August 16. The entry-level 316ti will be priced from £16,280 and the more powerful 325ti SE will cost £22,610.

The 316ti produces 116 bhp and has a top speed of 125mph and a combined fuel consumption figure of 40.9mpg. The 325ti SE has a 2.5-litre straight six-power unit producing 192bhp and a top speed of 147mpg, with combined fuel consumption of 31.7mpg.

The 318ti and the 320td will join the new Compact range from September, with prices and specifications to be announced.
