FLEET executives have been warned to 'use or lose' a one-day training programme designed specifically for them. The course includes a detailed explanation of next April's company car tax system and its implications, as well as other fleet management fundamentals.

Hampshire-based Fleet Audits designed the training scheme in response to demand from members of the Association of Car Fleet Operators.

Last year a free-of-charge pilot course in Portsmouth, sponsored by IBM, attracted fleet decision-makers from around the UK. But response to a nationwide series of roadshows has proved very poor, jeopardising the future of the courses. While the one-day sessions in Newbury and Cambridge have attracted a few delegates, the courses scheduled for Shrewsbury and Glasgow are struggling for numbers.

Chris Chandler, training director of Fleet Audits, said: 'The industry asked for these courses, and now it has to use them or lose them'.

  • The fee per delegate is £165 plus VAT or £160 for ACFO members; and course dates are Newbury, July 10; Cambridge July 12; Shrewsbury, July 17; York, August 21; Glasgow, August 23. For details call 01730 266666.
