AA Business Services is set to offer fleets 'cradle to grave' services as part of a major restructuring of its business.

Saul Parsonson, the new general manager for major accounts, said that a venture into leasing would be on the agenda for discussion in a bid to offer a 'motoring essentials' service.

Parsonson was previously responsible for Lombard's portfolio of business to business services, and led the development of the Royal Bank of Scotland's internet strategy for fleets.

He said: 'Everything has to be reviewed. It is possible that a leasing initiative could be part of our future strategy. A year ago people didn't think that we would be providing servicing and maintenance.'

In August the AA completed the acquisition of Halford's garages for £5.75 million, and will rebrand the 129 garages as AA Service Centres.

The company is also piloting a mobile tyre service for three months in Reading. If successful it will be rolled out across the country.

Until now AA Business Services had concentrated on fleet, manufacturers and dealers, but its restructuring will see the business group its clients in terms of major accounts, dealer groups and small to medium sized enterprises.

Nick Bravery, director of AA Business Services, will head up the new team, replacing Graham Gill, who was forced to retire due to ill health. Adrian Waters is appointed general manager for business sales. The restructuring heralds a more market-driven approach by the company, which aims to grow its trade by 20% year on year with the business-to- business sector accounting for an increasing share of the AA's income.

Parsonson said that the new structure would offer improved solutions to fleets and help build long-term partnerships.
