VOLKSWAGEN has added a TDI version to the Beetle range. The new diesel Beetle will use a 100bhp 1.9-litre TDI PD engine that achieves 53.3mpg on the combined cycle and has carbon dioxide emissions of 143g/km, putting it in the lowest band for diesels (18%) under the new company car tax rules from April. It costs £14,175 on-the-road and will have the same specification as the 1.6-litre Beetle.
