The programme went live on January 1 with Inchcape providing vehicle fleet management, used vehicle re-marketing, vehicle refurbishment, transportation and storage, and will include Fiat and Alfa Romeo daily rental cars and fleet demonstrators.
A team of 17 people has been recruited to operate the contract from new offices in Corby, and Fiat claims it now has one of the most advanced and efficient vehicle remarketing operations in Europe.
Vehicle refurbishment and logistics specialist EuroFleet, which is now solely owned by Inchcape, will manage all transportation, vehicle storage and vehicle refurbishment requirements from two sites in Northamptonshire and another site in Edinburgh.
A key disposal route for Fiat Auto will be a web-based electronic stock locator managed by the Fiat and Alfa Romeo remarketing team in Corby.
The system ensures vehicles will be offered on the stock locator facility at a fixed price. Dealers can view and buy them using a range of online finance options.
John Chater, Fiat Auto used car operations manager, believes the move will transform the company's used vehicle remarketing activity in the UK.
'The partnership between Fiat and Inchcape will greatly enhance profit opportunities for all Fiat and Alfa Romeo approved used car dealers, achieved by making a wider range of used Alfa Romeo and Fiat cars and vans available through low-cost easy-to-use technology.' Fiat Auto will also run two electronic auctions a week. This will be combined with dedicated Fiat, Alfa Romeo and commercial vehicle auctions through Manheim and BCA, allowing dealers who prefer to view their cars and commercial vehicles in the metal before bidding, to buy stock at physical auctions.
