COMPANY car and van drivers could be wasting up to two weeks every year sitting in traffic jams according to a new survey.

A poll by Ford Telematics found that a third of drivers questioned could spend nearly two weeks a year at a standstill in their vehicles and will be late for an appointment up to 8,000 times in their working lifetime.

The survey also found that a third of drivers find a lack of travel information frustrating with half of British motorists wanting route guidance on their journeys. Greater London proved to be the worst area for traffic delays, with drivers spending an average of five hours a month stuck in traffic - five times the national average. Ford recently introduced a telematics system for its Mondeo and Focus models.
