UK fleets could be wasting millions of pounds each year by failing to ensure their contract hire rates are competitive.

Fleet consultancy Fleet Logistics claims the monthly contract hire cost for a typical fleet favourite such as Ford Mondeo Zetec 2.0 varies by as much as 15%, while rates for popular choices such as a Volkswagen Golf GTI vary by more than £90 a month.

Graham Rees, Fleet Logistics business development director, said: 'Our experience shows that you need to look at using about three suppliers for your leasing requirements to compare all the differing options available, and not be seduced by short-term offers or special incentives.

'It is not only a question of price. Other factors such as wear and tear or excess mileage policies can make a huge difference.'
