ING Lease has taken over Dutch company TOP Lease for an undisclosed sum.

TOP Lease ranks fifth in the Dutch car-lease market with a fleet of 40,000 passenger cars. The company is also active in Belgium.

ING Lease said: 'In due course, TOP Lease will be merged with ING Car Lease, a full subsidiary of ING Lease. ING Car Lease specialises in operational lease and the lease of passenger cars and small-sized vans.'

ING Car Lease's fleet now comprises about 120,000 cars in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain, The Netherlands and the UK.

UK managing director Ian Tilbrook said the company aims to grow through organic growth or acquisition and that he 'continues to see major opportunities for pan-European growth'.

In the UK, the company recently recruited a five-strong business development team.
