HYUNDAI will be adding a heavy-duty 4x4 to its UK range this summer.

The Terracan, which went on sale in other European markets in 2001, will be available with a 2.9-litre common rail diesel engine, developing 148bhp and 247lb-ft of torque. Its body-on-frame construction results in a 2,800kg towing capacity, and the Terracan will use permanent four-wheel drive and low-ratio gearbox transfer.

Hyundai is targeting other workhorse 4x4s such as the Vauxhall Frontera, Isuzu Trooper, Mitsubishi Shogun Sport and Nissan Patrol. Prices are expected to start at £19,000.
