THE new face of a core model for many executive fleet car drivers has been revealed.

The new Audi A4 saloon and Avant is available for order from mid-October, with first deliveries in January 2005.

As well as a completely fresh exterior, there is a revised chassis incorporating elements from new A6 and flagship S4 quattro. There will be new generation manual transmissions, plus six-speed tiptronic and seven-speed multitronic CVT automatics. There will also be four engines new to the A4 – a 2.0 T FSI, offering 197bhp, a 3.2 V6 FSI with 252bhp, a 2.0 TDI, producing 138bhp and a 201bhp 3.0 TDI.

These units bring the total number of engine options in the new A4 range to 10, which Audi claims is the most extensive choice in the premium sector. The interior is updated to include the latest generation of steering wheels, new cloth and leather upholstery options and new technology including a new DVD-based satellite navigation system.

Prices and full specification for the new A4 Saloon and Avant models will be available nearer to launch.
